In a mad gamble to generate downloads from their mp3 website at Amp3.com, Paul Diamond Blow & the Ace Diamond Bimbos have paid out over $50,000 to strippers across America-- handing out $100 bills marked with the bands url address to the lucky girls. Says Paul Diamond Blow, "We're promoting the band across the country--one couch dance at a time!"
It started in the urinals...
...and ended in the strip clubs!
The frenzied promotion that caught America by storm!
"We had 40,000 stickers printed up, and stocked up on 1200 cans of spray paint," explains drummer, Sleazy P. "We must have hit every urinal known to man, putting our stickers on the walls, on the toilets, and even in the urinals! We spray painted our logo and band name everywhere!"
"We left no toilet seat unturned," says Blow. "We started at home in Seattle...then we hit Detroit, New York, Philly--you name it, we hit 'em! And we hit 'em hard!"
But the urinal promotion was only phase one for the Ace Diamond Bimbos...phase two was the Stripclub Circuit. Armed with a fresh cash advance from the major labels, the Bimbos blazed a hot trail through the Strip Clubs of America, handing out CD's, stickers, and hundred dollar bills to the girls that worked the clubs...
"I thought they were crazy," says David Griffen, from Griffen Records. "That money was supposed to go for recording the new album... but I guess they knew what they were doing." Indeed, they did-- the Strip Club Promotion was a smash hit-- generating thousands of fresh downloads for the Bimbos.
"I couldn't believe it when they walked in my club, and started spending all that money!" says Monique, a dancer in Seattle. "Paul Blow even gave me an autographed CD! How fortunate I was to have been working that night!"
"I really love that band," says Angie, who dances in S.F. "They're really good, and they're so cute!"
"I like the way they dress," says Rose, "I like the leather..."
Asked which promotion he preferred, the Urinal promo or the Strip Club promo, rythum guitarist Maxxi Thunderfingers responded, "I much preferred the Strip Club promotion... I'd rather have my head in a girl's crotch, than in a toilet bowl..."
